Interview Series #3: Bria Dixon

2020 G Bria Dixon is one of the top girls basketball players in Oregon! Dixon is an elite three point specialist and play maker that makes everyone around her better. These quality of Bria help lead Benson to a 2019 State Championship. Bria recently committed to the University of Montana.

Congrats on your commitment to Montana! Why did you choose Montana over other schools?

Montana has felt like the right place in my heart. They have been recruiting me since freshman year. They always made me feel like I mattered as a person before a basketball player and that means a lot. I trust them. It’s an amazing college town with thousands of fans in attendance each game.

What team did you play for this summer? What skills did you improve on during that time?

I played for Holla this summer. I focused on knocking down shots consistently but most of all I worked on my leadership. We were a young group playing 17u with only 2 17 year olds. I also worked on adding different dimensions to my game. For example, midrange and driving, not just shooting threes.

What goals have you set for yourself this upcoming season?

This season is the same goal as last year, another state championship. I would also like to lead the state in scoring and three pointers made.

After graduating some key seniors, which teammates do you see playing a bigger role this year?

I see Aujae, Me, Oria, and Malaya having big roles this season.

What are your team goals for this season?

Our team goal is to first win the PIL then of course the Chiles Center, and a state championship.

Do you have a pregame ritual?

I always have to shoot around before a game, if not at benson, then at home in my backyard.

If you didn’t play basketball, what sport would you play instead?

If i didn’t play basketball I would be playing soccer. I was a center mid when I played and I was pretty good. I was just forced to choose. I loved basketball more so I chose that.

Who do you think is better, Lakers or Clippers?

I think the Lakers defense is hard to handle right now with Lebrun and AD at the head of both of those. But I think the clippers will end the season ahead.
