Cascade Upsets Philomath 34-23

Final Score: Cascade 34 Philomath 23

Sometimes a low scoring game is the product of two tremendous defensive performances, sometimes a low scoring game is the product of two really, really sloppy offensive performances that have little to do with the defensive effort. With the amount of turnovers, dropped passes, and missed open shots, this game certainly falls in the second category.

The halftime score being a 10-10 tie, the 24-13 second half felt by comparison to be a high paced shoot out, despite the still prevalent large scale trading of turnovers. The only difference was how each team was committing their in-bulk turnovers: Cascade in transition or the open court, and Philomath trying, often unsuccessfully, to work the ball under the three point line.

The athleticism of Cascade won out, plain and simple. Where Philomath committed their turnovers in positions where recovering and converting would be nearly impossible, Cascade…

Short Handed Cougars Fall to Marist 49-35

Final Score: Marist 49 Cascade 35

Cascade was short handed, yes, but give Marist some credit: They still had to seal the deal. There is a lot to like here with Marist.

Cascade played…slow. Partially a symptom of missing so much talent, partially from the Marist pressure. The ball got stuck with such regularity that even when Cascade didn’t turn the ball over in live play in the form of an intercepted pass or picked off dribble, a five-second call was almost continuously near being assessed. Despite all…

Hidden Valley outlast Philomath in OT to win State

What A Game!! Two evenly matched teams battled it out for the 4A State Title. Hidden Valley defeats Philomath 44-39 in OT.

The game was back and forward throughout regulation but with 2 minutes left Philomath star Jr. Sage Kramer fouls out. Her teammates did all they could to step up but ultimately fell short.

As for the champions Hidden Valley, Senior forward Kaiah Fisher was dominate all day long on the low block. She showed her all around ability to shoot from deep, hit clutch free throws and excellent footwork in the post.

Hats off to both teams and congrats again to Hidden Valley!
