Portland Christian “Youngest Team” In The State Advances To The OSAA State Tourney..

ree

Around this time last season, Portland Christian season was over and they finished with 2-23 record. They loss some close games and others range from 30 to 50 point losses. Alot of coaches would shy away from programs like this but it takes a coach with a vision and patience to lead them back to their winning ways. Athletic Director Ryan Burnison made the right call by landing former Gresham HS Head Coach Eric Lyslo. He and assistant coach Ben Kittleson return to PC after taking over a 4-20 (0-14 league play) Gresham team and turning them into a top 10 team in the state a few years later.

Crane Dominates Gold Beach, Sets Up 1A-2A Clash of Juggernauts

Final Score: Crane 76 Gold Beach 48

Cody Seigner has the frame of someone that could be a D2/Lower D1 Tight End at some point. This kid is incredible for a sophomore.

Rinse and repeat a lot of what was said after Gold Beach’s victory over Amity yesterday: The first option–Altman–is absolutely there, but what is the second option after that? What is the second punch? Today the answer didn’t show, and the Panthers got rolled because of it.

Crane is likely to run away with the 1A title, and frankly were they in the 2A ranks they'd be the co-favorite along slide Salem Academy. The ways this team can mess with you–from the outside, from the inside, in a fast pace, in a slow pace, etc–is truly remarkable. The championship matchup between the Mustangs and the aforementioned Crusaders tomorrow evening should be one for the books.

Salem Academy Beats Bandon 59-45

ree

Final Score: Salem Academy 59 Bandon 45 Hard to watch this game and think Salem Academy isn’t the best team in 2A currently. What an incredible one-two punch Landen Mitchell and Jaren Ogelsby are, not only athletically, but offensively as floor stretchers and penetrators, and defensively as fast break starters. There really wasn’t a single phase of the game Bandon had control over in this contest, and those two are the main reasons why. Bandon looked offensively flummoxed in the first half. On virtually every possession it seemed if Owen Brown didn’t hit a deep three pointer, there was no shot for points. This can be attributed to Salem Academies defense in part, yes, but the motion within Bandon’s offense just was not creating any opportunities–easy or otherwise. The Tigers have talent, but it was plainly evident from the tip why SA is in a different category currently. Bandon has some players…
