By : Oregon3aPredicit This game was probably the best game we will watch all year. We knew this game was going to be a classic just because Western Christian was undefeated 8-0 and Sc was 7-0. If you know anything about 2a Basketball then you know Western has been a powerhouse for a long time. They have a winning tradition at Western Christian not many schools can match, walking into the gym about 20 minutes before the game it was packed with one side basically filled with just Western fans, it was a fun atmosphere. It had a playoff-type atmosphere and the game didn’t disappoint. To start the game Western Christian Junior Sharp Shooter Alex Nicoli hit back-back-back threes. Within a minute into the game, it was 11-2 Western and the lead grew. Sc was turning the ball over with the Western press causing bad passes and silly turnovers. by the end of the First Quarter, it was 22-7. Western was shooting pretty much lights out and they had complete control of the game. Sc came out flat and was missing some open three-point shoots they even missed about two point-blank layups that bounced in and out, the ball wasn’t bouncing their way. The Western lead was 20 by halftime 39-19. In our minds, we figured Sc might come out after halftime motivated and would play better, but we thought this game might be over, Western stepped on the gas pedal and didn’t let off in the First Half. Western is such a skilled team coming back would be a really hard task. However the second half was the exact opposite, Sc was shooting lights out and hit 3 threes in a row to cut the lead down to 12 within 2 minutes into the Third Quarter. Western responded with three more Three-pointers and even stretched the lead to 24 with 5:45 left in the Third. Western just took the air out the building and their fans were going crazy. In response to the Western run, Sc managed to close the Quarter only down by 12 making it a game. Zach Baugher completely took over the Fourth Quarter Shooting 3/3 on Three-point shots and shooting 9/9 from the line. With 42 seconds left in the game, Santiam Christians Junior Guard Ben Galceran hit one of the biggest threes of his life tying the game tied at 64-64. This game ended out going into Overtime were an intentional foul was called on a Western player sealing the game and making it a 5 point game with 8 seconds left.
